Brain Scans Reveal Failure to Activate Key Brain Areas in Borderline Personality Disorder

Patients with Bordereline Personality Disorder participating in an emotion regulation experiment were unable to activate key brain areas engaged in emotion regulation, while watching emotionally disturbing scenes. Same patients failed to down-regulate their negative responses to the scenes. These findings implicate a link between emotion regulation problems and neural activation. Fortunately, we can learn to activate the Cingulate Gyrus with LORETA neurofeedback!  Link to the full article here.
