Creative people have better-connected brains

Recent diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) study with healthy college volunteers discovered a common brain connectivity pattern shared by all individuals who scored high on multiple tests of divergent thinking and creativity – they all had increased connectivity between the frontal lobes of their brain hemispheres.

Dunson, one of the study investigators suggested that this DTI approach could also be used to predict the probability that a person will be highly creative simply based on his or her brain network structure. “Maybe by scanning a person’s brain we could tell what they’re likely to be good at,” Dunson said.
