COMMITMENT TO SESSIONS
Neurotherapy does not offer a quick fix. Triggering neuroplasticity and changing the brain through operant conditioning and gaining control over one’s electrophysiology requires time and perseverance and therefore attending your sessions regularly is vital for your success. Similarly to the body work in the gym, where multiple regular work outs are required to achieve desired changes in mass and muscle tissue, consistent regular brain work outs are necessary to change the deeply entrenched patterns of thought and behaviour.
LACK OF ENGAGEMENT AND OVERTHINKING -TWO FACTORS THWARTING SUCCESS
Participating actively in your neurotherapy session is essential for your progress. Neurotherapy is not a passive treatment but an engaging experience, shaped by the individual undergoing it.
There are many ways in which we personalise your sessions to resonate with your personality and learning style and to promote better learning and faster brain and mind changes. The motivation for neurotherapy sessions, however, is something you (or your child) has to bring along. While we try our best to offer multiple and exciting feedback modalities for your neurofeedback training, as well as entertaining and stimulating exercises during your brain stimulation, please, be aware that your neurotherapy session is not an entertainment session. Make sure that you have explained this to your child before bringing them to the sessions to allow us to make optimal use of the time, expertise and equipment available to help them.
DIET AND NUTRITION
A wrong diet inevitably triggers inflammatory processes in our body and brain and it is well known that inflammation takes up the a lot of the available brain energy, causes emotional instability and hinders neuroplasticity.
Alcohol is not recommended during the period of training, as it’s toxicity impacts negatively on the brain’s ability to learn and change. While we are aware that we cannot request full alcohol abstinence from our clients, we advise strictly against alcohol consumption at least in the 24 hour time window before and after a neurotherapy session.
