The precision of a memory can be seen in the eyes

A recent study published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition reveals a direct correlation between pupil dilation and the precision of memory recall. Researchers Ádám Albi and Péter Pajkossy conducted experiments demonstrating that the degree of pupil enlargement aligns with how accurately individuals remember specific details.​

In the study, participants were shown a series of uncommon Hungarian words displayed at various positions on a screen. Later, they were tested on their recognition of these words and asked to recall their exact locations. Throughout this process, pupil size was meticulously measured. Findings indicated that greater pupil dilation occurred when participants not only recognized a word but also accurately recalled its position, suggesting heightened cognitive engagement during precise memory retrieval.​
